Work for five

Alexander Volkov, online newspaper TEXT

Scientists of the Perm NGO Biomed have developed the first domestic pentavaccines for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and HIB infection. This drug allows vaccination against five diseases at once on the principle of a "single injection" without the need to introduce several monovaccines separately.

The new vaccine will be used to immunize children aged 6 months and older. The transition to multicomponent and polyvalent vaccines as part of mass immunization programs is a global trend and complies with WHO recommendations.

To date, the vaccines have already successfully passed preclinical and clinical studies that have confirmed their safety and effectiveness. Now the drugs are at the stage of state registration, the completion of which is scheduled for 2019.
