Do you want to give birth to a Neanderthal?

A scientist is looking for a surrogate mother to clone a Neanderthal

Jan Alshevsky, Onliner.by based on The Verge – Wanted: an 'adventurous' surrogate for a Neanderthal baby

Harvard University geneticist George Church (left) intends to clone a Neanderthal, for which he will need a "brave surrogate mother." According to the scientist, he has enough ancient DNA to implement the project. It is not yet known how soon we can expect the appearance of a clone of prehistoric man.

It is worth noting that in the USA, the so-called therapeutic human cloning is allowed, when the development of the embryo stops within 14 days to obtain stem cells. It is unclear whether the project initiated by Church falls under the cloning law. "Let's imagine that someone has a healthy, normal Neanderthal baby," the geneticist said in an interview last year.

As The Verge reminds, in 2009, scientists successfully cloned a subspecies of the extinct wild mountain goat. In addition, many people know about the legendary Dolly the sheep, born in 1996 and died in 2003.

Church does not disclose details about how the life of a Neanderthal can develop if he really comes into the world.

A couple of days later it turned out that these British journalists, translating Church's interview from the German weekly Spiegel, made a little mistake...
Well, how can I not remember the Italian proverb "traduttore, traditore" (translator – traitor) – VM.
