OpenBio: work report

The OpenBio platform has finished its work in Koltsov

"New Siberia"Two conferences, exhibitions, round tables and panel discussions – this is the first time an event of this level is being held in Naukograd.

On October 7, OpenBio, an open communications platform dedicated to the birth and commercialization of scientific ideas in the field of biotechnology, started working in Naukograd. OpenBio's past events include a scientific conference, panel discussions, round tables, exhibitions and scientific installations.

The International Conference of Young Scientists was divided into three sections. Virologists gathered in the Vector conference hall, and Professor Alexander Bukreev of the University of Texas delivered an introductory lecture on the Ebola virus. The reports of the section "Biotechnology" were read by the participants in the biotechnopark, the section "Molecular Biology" – in the business incubator.

The jury of the sections included representatives of Vector and institutes of the SB RAS, as well as Yuri Nikolsky, Director of Science of the Skolkovo Biomedical Technologies cluster, and Pavel Madonov, Director of Science of the SFM Group of Companies.

On October 7, the Biotechnopark hosted panel discussions with the participation of representatives of the regional government, the Koltsovo administration, Vector, the Koltsovo Innovation Center and other organizations. The work of the subjects of the innovation infrastructure with scientists and high-tech business, as well as the development of the biopharmaceutical direction of the innovation cluster of the Novosibirsk region was discussed.

The tasks and prospects of the biopharmaceutical cluster of the Novosibirsk region were also discussed at a round table in the biotechnopark. At the second round table, opportunities for science and high-tech business were discussed: scientific and technical competitions and support programs.

On October 7, an exhibition of biofarm cluster companies was held in the biotechnopark. At the photo exhibition "Aesthetics of the Microcosm", OpenBio guests were offered models of HIV and the Ebola virus. In the evening, everyone could see biotechnological robots. It was also possible to try on a protective suit provided by Vector.

On October 8, an Open Day was held in the business incubator, organized by the ICC. Young scientists and participants of innovative projects were told about the commercialization of ideas and technologies.

On this day, young biologists gathered for the conference. The students at the conference also had three sections: botany, zoology and general biology. The conference was organized jointly with the CDT "Constellation". In the afternoon, the guys went on a tour of the innovative enterprises of the science city.

The OpenBio platform was organized by the Koltsovo Innovation Center and Vector. The event was held with the support of the administration of the science city, the Russian Venture Company, the Novosibirsk Regional Fund for Support of Science and Innovation, the SFM-Pharm group of companies. The scientific conference within the framework of OpenBio was held with the support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. The site received the status of the event of the Year of Science Russia-EU, as well as the events of the All-Russian Science Festival.
