Competition of Russian-Israeli nano- and biotechnological projects

Grants for the implementation of nano- and biotechnological projects
(fourth selection of Russian-Israeli industrial R&D projects)

The Rusnano Foundation for Infrastructure and Educational Programs and the Office of the Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Economy have begun the fourth selection of Russian-Israeli industrial R&D projects, which will last until November 6, 2014. The selection of projects is carried out within the framework of an intergovernmental agreement concluded in March 2010 between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the State of Israel. On the Russian side, the agreement is coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, on the Israeli side – by the Ministry of Economy of the State of Israel.

To participate in the selection, the project must meet a number of requirements – relate to the field of nanotechnology (and/or biotechnology), have an industrial orientation and confirmed demand, including on the world market. In addition, the expected period of commercialization of the created technology should be no more than 5 years. The term of financing of the project by the Fund is no more than 3 years.

Joint applications of participating partner companies from Russia and Israel are accepted for participation in the selection.

The Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs provides funding in the form of a grant of no more than 50% of the budget of the Russian part of the project. The remaining part of the funds is contributed by a co-investor (or several co-investors), whose presence is also a prerequisite for participation in the selection.

The Office of the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Economy finances the Israeli part of the project, implemented by an Israeli partner company, in accordance with established procedures and rules.

Project requirements:

  • The project should relate to the field of nanotechnology, contribute to the development of new industries, mechanisms and tools for realizing the potential of the nanoindustry.
  • The product, process or service being developed within the framework of the project should be innovative and based on new technologies.
  • The expected period of commercialization of the technology is approximately 3-5 years.
  • The project should have significant volumes of potential markets in the territories of the Russian Federation, the State of Israel and world markets.
  • Industry focus of selected projects.

As part of the selection, it is planned to search for projects that carry out industrial R&D using nanotechnology, including in the following areas (the list of areas is open):

  • nanotechnology in medicine and healthcare;
  • nano- and biotechnologies;
  • nanotechnology in agriculture and nutrition;
  • nanotechnology in new energy sources and use of natural resources;
  • nanotechnology in environmental protection;
  • nanotechnology in connection with;
  • nanotechnology in space research;
  • nanotechnology in computer science and data exchange;
  • another field of application of nanotechnology.

Requirements for participants: The Russian participant must carry out production activities or be a research institution (university, research institute, etc.) or have a team capable of implementing a research program for the Project (have a certain material base or access to the necessary infrastructure to organize research, or have agreements on the use of appropriate research infrastructure).

The Israeli participant must conduct production activities and be ready to accept technological and scientific assistance from a production or research institution.

Full information about the selection is published on the Foundation's website.
