Small enterprises – to domestic healthcare

As part of the participation in the implementation of the priority national project "Health", the Foundation for the Promotion of Small Forms of Enterprises in the Scientific and Technical Sphere concluded an agreement with the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Russian Federation on holding a joint competition to create systems for providing domestic healthcare with equipment, treatment methods and medicines developed on the basis of high technologies.

The competition provides for the selection and financing by the Fund for the Promotion of R&D carried out by small scientific and technical enterprises. The selection of projects for financing is carried out by a joint commission, which includes leading specialists of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and representatives of the Assistance Fund. The projects should be aimed at the development and introduction of modern medical equipment, the creation of methods and medicines based on the latest developments of Russian science that allow treating the most socially significant diseases.

The main directions of the 2008 competition are defined:

• creation of medicines for immunotherapy of chronic diseases caused by infections predisposing to the development of oncopathologies, diseases of the urogenital sphere and viral heart diseases;
• creation of new means of immunomonitoring of socially significant oncological diseases based on the use of domestic recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies;
• development of modern methods for the production of human anticancer therapeutic proteins based on transgenic technologies;
• creation of modern systems for providing the treatment process using radio preparations.
  

The competition provides for the possibility of financing in three forms (for more information about the forms of financing, see the Fund's website)

• "Start" – for newly created enterprises for the implementation and introduction of new scientific ideas;
• "Development" – on the basis of intellectual property owned by the applicant;
• TEMP is based on developments carried out in state scientific organizations.

The Russian Academy of Medical Sciences forms technical requirements for products (services) representing the subject of the competition, assists in the examination of applications for the competition, carries out ongoing monitoring of the progress of funded projects, provides support to the winners of the competition during clinical trials and licensing of products, provides information support for the promotion of created products to the market.
