120 years, don't count on more

Eternal youth? Human genetics limits
the maximum life expectancy is 120 years

Eternal youth? Humans are hard wired only to last to 120 yearsTom Whipple, The Times

Translation: Inopressa"If you were old enough to meet the XXI century with a glass of fizz in your hands, it is likely that you will be able to celebrate the arrival of the next century," writes Tom Whipple in the British edition of The Times.

"However, if you live to see the clock strike on New Year's Eve 2099, be prepared for the fact that you will drink to your demise: scientists believe that it is unlikely that people will ever be able to live longer than 120 years."

"The expert Council of gerontologists and prominent scientists assessed the state of research in the field of aging," Tom Whipple reports. "They came to the conclusion that in the next ten years our life expectancy is likely to continue to increase, but not at the rate (at some point reached seven hours a day) to which we used to in the past. They also recommended seeing in stories that someday people will be able to potentially live as long as Methuselah, exactly what they are: stories."

According to British professor Sir Colin Blackmore, it is quite possible that in the future scientists will be able to discover that there is a limit to how long we can live. "It is very rare to live up to 120 years or approach this age, therefore, indeed, there may be a real absolute limit to the duration of human life," the scientist told the publication. He also asked the eight gerontologists who expressed their opinion in the report on aging, what they think about it. "None of them believes that life expectancy can be increased indefinitely."

"If you really want to find a magical way to prevent aging, science has evidence of the effectiveness of two things that are at the same time enjoyable: "Good nutrition and exercise," the publication quotes the scientist.
