International Congress on Modernization of Russia

Open Russia is a successful business
An international Congress on Modernization will be held in Moscow in March.
The purpose of the forum is to discuss the global changes that Russia is on the threshold of.

On March 24-25, 2011, the Moscow School of Management "Skolkovo" and the World Trade Center will host the annual International Congress "Open Russia: partnership for modernization". The main topic of discussions this year will be the country's integration into the global economy. The Congress is being held for the fifth time, bringing together well-known Russian and foreign politicians and businessmen, financiers, public figures, representatives of state structures, federal and regional authorities.

Since 2006, it has been attended by delegations from 74 regions of Russia and 28 foreign countries. Presentations were made by German Gref, Alexey Mordashov, Boris Titov, Natalia Khanzhenkova, Fernando Valenzuela, Andrew Sommers, Michael Harms, William Burns. This time, an expanded composition of regional business delegations is also expected. The goal is to discuss with authoritative experts issues related to global changes, on the threshold of which Russia is standing.

After 17 years of difficult negotiations, our accession to the WTO is expected this year. Since 2012, the common economic space with the participation of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will begin to operate. The openness of borders and increased competition are changing the business environment, increasing the requirements for personnel. In this case, the competent building of relations with the outside world can become one of their main directions for business development in the country, which is the largest territory in the world. How to prepare for successful work in the WTO? This will be answered by members of the working group on Russia's accession to the WTO and experts from relevant departments of the Ministry of Economic Development.

During the congress, it is also planned to discuss topical issues related to the role of domestic business in the Russian-European dialogue, issues of customs regulation, cross-border and interregional cooperation, prospects for turning Moscow into an international financial center. Part of the extensive program will be devoted to industry sections and seminars. Priority No. 1 is the modernization of Russian healthcare. Will the creation of international innovation and research centers in Russia help in this? How to establish international cooperation in healthcare? The best practices of regional and international experience in housing and communal services reform will also be touched upon. Moreover, taking into account the use of modern IT and European experience of effective management in housing and communal services. Comments on these and other topics will be available from the country's leading experts, heads of ministries and business associations.

On the second day of the congress, an International Business Contacts Exchange will open, where participants will be able to obtain operational industry data necessary for the development of their own business, place offers on goods and services, negotiate, present innovative developments and new technologies. A consultation Center will work nearby - a maximum of comprehensive information about the specifics of work in the country of interest, promising business areas. The main organizers and partners of the congress were the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the AERgroup Company, the Association of European Business, the Committee of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on Trade Policy and the WTO.
