Soon nanoproducts will become safe

American cosmetics manufacturers will be taught how to safely use nanotechnologyCopper news

US regulatory authorities will draw up guidelines on the use of nanoparticles in the production of cosmetics and food, The Washington Post reports (FDA outlines proposed rules for food and cosmetics containing tiny nanoparticles)

with reference to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The specialists of the department drew attention to the increased use of nanotechnology in the manufacture of cosmetic products such as moisturizing lotions and creams, suntan products, as well as food packaging. In this regard, the FDA has issued preliminary recommendations for manufacturers of these products.

According to the management of the supervisory service, in the case of the use of nanotechnology, manufacturers should provide additional information about the safety of their products. The head of the FDA's food additive safety division, Dennis Keefe, noted that the agency intends to make sure in advance of the safety of substances and chemical components used in production.

The US Food and Drug Administration has called on cosmetics and food manufacturers to comment on this initiative. Offers from market participants will be accepted within 90 days. As a result of this work, relevant regulations will be developed and published.
