Overview of the private equity and venture capital investment market for the first half of 2016

We present to your attention the "Review of the market of direct and venture investments for the first half of 2016, prepared by the Russian Venture Investment Association (RAVI).

This review has been prepared on the basis of the Methodology developed in 2014 and supplemented in 2015, which is the basis designed to ensure comparability of the results of research on the Russian direct and venture capital investment market, providing an opportunity for all interested parties to communicate "in one language".

In total, this Review took into account data on more than 300 funds included in the Expert Base of the Russian venture Market created by RAVI with the support of RVC JSC.

In accordance with the provisions of the Methodology, the review provides information on the results of the work of institutional investors (Russian and foreign funds, as well as business accelerators investing funds and having their own (partner) fund, sections 2-4.5, 5) and non-institutional investors (business angels and crowdinvesting services, section 4.6), included in the sphere of the private equity and venture capital investment market.

In addition, in this review, in section 4.7, transactions of the "technological" market are considered, the subjects of which are "non-classical" institutional investors of the direct and venture capital investment market (such "non-classical" investors include primarily industry and investment companies (investing directly, without creating or participating in the fund), investment banks, individual institutions development). This will allow, as the relevant statistics accumulate, to analyze in more detail the vast transaction market, the objects of which are companies in the technology sector.
