All about cholesterol

The main cause of high mortality among the Russian population is cardiovascular diseases caused by atherosclerosis. Numerous epidemiological studies have proved that one of the main risk factors for the progression of cardiovascular diseases and, first of all, coronary heart disease is an increase in cholesterol levels. According to the State Research Center for Preventive Medicine, about 60% of the adult population of Russia have an increase in the concentration of total cholesterol, and in 20% this level corresponds to a high risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.

On March 30, at 16:00, a large-scale National Scientific report will be presented for the first time in Russia at the Institute of Modern Development (INSOR), which combines the whole complex of information, research, statistics, analytics, problems and practical recommendations related to cholesterol. The format of the National Report directly emphasizes the relevance of the "cholesterol health" of the Russian population, its national significance.

The report "All about Cholesterol" is the first study in the history of Russian medical science that reveals in detail all aspects of the problem of the occurrence, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases caused by elevated cholesterol levels and which are the main cause of the high mortality rate of the Russian population.

Leading cardiologists of Russia give practical recommendations, special diets, talk about the peculiarities of the course of diseases caused by excess cholesterol, analyze in detail the physiology of processes in the body, compare geographical, age, genetic factors of influence, give fresh statistical data and analyze the results of numerous studies. Particular attention is paid to risk factors, methods of correction of lipid metabolism for various groups of the population.

The report was published under the editorship of the President of the National Health League, a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Director of the A.N. Bakulev National Academy of Medical Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences L.A.Bokeria and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, President of the All-Russian Scientific Society of Cardiology R.G. Oganov. Scientific editor: Professor I.N. Stupakov, scientific consultant – Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.A. Tutelyan.

The report is based on the recommendations of the All-Russian Scientific Society of Cardiologists "Diagnosis and correction of lipid metabolism disorders for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis"; the works of foreign and domestic scientists.

The main topics of the National Scientific Report "All about cholesterol":The invisible enemy of man.

• The asymptomatic course of the disease annually takes the lives of millions of people. What is it – lack of information, negligence, unwillingness to notice the problem?
