This protein will help to cope with infections and oncology and become the basis for the production of baby and dietary nutrition. Lactoferrin will be produced in the new laboratory of the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences. The experimental site was officially shown to journalists today. Human lactoferrin will be obtained from the milk of transgenic goats. He will tell you all the details of the scientific research of microbiologists .
The whole scheme of the technological process of the new laboratory was created from scratch by our microbiologists. The equipment will allow to isolate lactoferrin, one of the main proteins of breast milk and a component of the immune system.

Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: "We no longer have experimental, but industrial production of lactoferrin. And the next, final stage is the release of the final, final products that will be used for the benefit of the population."
The project, in fact, started working in 2008. It was then, with the introduction of the human gene into the animal cell, the first transgenic goats were obtained. Today there are already 228 of them.
According to scientists, it is planned to receive 5-6 kilograms of lactoferrin annually from five tons of transgenic goat's milk. And in the long term, we intend to register a pharmaceutical substance, the basis of which will be this protein.

While we are talking about prototypes, they have excellent characteristics. Frozen goat's milk can also be processed in this laboratory.
Lactoferrin can be used to make dietary supplements, baby and diet food, cosmetics. Miracle protein will help fight both infectious and oncological diseases. The global demand is estimated at 90 tons per year. The release of a pharmaceutical substance in theory promises a considerable profit.
They tried unsuccessfully to obtain biologically active lactoferrin in America and China. Belarusian scientists together with colleagues from Russia were able to prove that this is real.
