A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

It was established that the specified drug was developed by order and exclusively sold by a group of persons who acted from Farmit LLC, Zdravresurs LLC and Biocenter LLC. The members of the group conducted large-scale advertising campaigns, and also organized a "call center" for the sale of such products.

Managers on the phone introduced themselves as medical staff of the Research Institute of Rheumatology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and convinced citizens, mostly pensioners, that the drug "Biomatik" is an effective drug that cures various joint diseases (arthritis, arthrosis, atherosclerosis, etc.).

The selling price of the manufacturer of the drug "Biomatic" was 167 rubles per package, and when ordering it through a call center organized by attackers, the cost of the BUD was overestimated by more than 100 times and reached 20 thousand rubles. The revenue of these organizations from the sale of such products in 2007-2009 amounted to over 300 million rubles.

The Institute of Rheumatology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences conducted a study "Biomatics" and concluded that this drug does not have the therapeutic effect stated in the recipe.
