A sad record

Russia took the last place in the rating of health efficiency

Tape.roo

Russia took the last, 55th place in the ranking of health efficiency compiled by Bloomberg.

According to the study, life expectancy in Russia is 70.37 years. Health spending is 7.07 percent of GDP, or $893 per person. The efficiency coefficient of the health care system is 24.3.

In addition to Russia, Brazil, Azerbaijan, Colombia and Jordan were among the five worst health systems.

Hong Kong, Singapore, Spain, South Korea and Japan were recognized as the leaders of the rating. In particular, in Hong Kong (efficiency ratio – 88.9) 5.4 percent of GDP is spent on healthcare per year, and life expectancy is 83.98 years.

The study examined 55 countries and administrative regions with a population of more than five million people. The Bloomberg Health-Care Efficiency Index rating has been compiled since 2012.

In April, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the average life expectancy of Russians has reached a historic maximum: in 2015 it was 71.39 years. A month earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health Veronika Skvortsova recognized a significant reduction in mortality of the able-bodied population. Among the factors contributing to longevity, she listed lifestyle changes, a decrease in the number of smokers, as well as cases of domestic drunkenness.

Are you comforted by someone else's grief?
And let us remind ourselves that 40 years ago, WHO experts approximately determined that the health (and, accordingly, life expectancy) of the population depends least on the quality and availability of medical care – by 10-15%. Then there are heredity (15-20%), the state of the environment (20-25%), and most importantly – the conditions and lifestyle of people (50-55%).
So there is nothing to blame on the Ministry of Health...
