A world-class medical cluster is being created in Skolkovo
The first clinic, which will be part of the international medical cluster, is planned to open within three years.
An international medical cluster (MMK) will appear in Skolkovo. The founding meeting of the Supervisory Board of the MMK Foundation was held by Sergey Sobyanin.
"Today we have started practical work on the creation of an international medical cluster in Moscow. This is one of the priorities for all city services. Deadlines are tight. No more than three years should pass between today and the opening of the first international clinic," the Mayor of Moscow said.
The cluster will include several world-class international clinics. They will work according to the standards of medical care adopted in the OECD countries (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development). In particular, it is planned to attract foreign doctors, use foreign medical equipment, medical technologies and medicines.
MMK will include scientific organizations specializing in the development, production and implementation of medicines, medical technologies and medical devices, as well as educational organizations. Russian doctors and other medical workers will be trained here, including with the involvement of international experts.
It is expected that the creation of an international medical cluster in Moscow will provide Russian citizens with medical care at the level of the best world standards. This should reduce the scale of medical tourism to other countries of the world. In addition, MMK's activities will lead to the introduction of the latest medical technologies and advanced training of doctors of Russian hospitals and polyclinics.
At the founding meeting of the Supervisory Board of the MMK Foundation, the main organizational issues related to its activities were resolved, and a work plan for the creation of an international medical cluster for 2015-2017 was approved.
The Foundation is the management company of the international medical cluster. Its creation is provided for by Federal Law No. 160-FZ of June 29, 2015.
