Russia's first "cell factory" opened in Yekaterinburg
An automated laboratory of cell cultures was opened at the Institute of Medical Cell Technologies in Yekaterinburg," the Information Policy Department of the Sverdlovsk Governor told the API.
The laboratory has installed Russia's first automated, robotic cell culture station CompacT CellBase.
"This modern "cell factory" will ensure the production of cellular material necessary for the research and development of the Institute, accelerate the process of developing and implementing new diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in practical healthcare in accordance with international standards and requirements," said the head of the regional Ministry of Health Arkady Belyavsky.
It should be noted that there are seven scientific laboratories in the structure of the Institute of Medical Cell Technologies. One of the directions of the Institute's work is the development of technologies for obtaining cell cultures, as well as tissue engineering structures that can be used to treat a number of diseases. In particular, for the treatment of neurotrophic ulcers in diabetes mellitus, limbal cell insufficiency of the cornea of the eye, for stimulation of neoangiogenesis in cardiovascular insufficiency, for the treatment of severe thermal skin lesions.
