Russian cyborg competitions "Cybathletics" will be held in Moscow

In Moscow, on June 15, within the framework of the Integration`17 forum, "Cybathletics" will be held – competitions of people with high-tech means of rehabilitation. This is reported in the blog of the company "Motorika" on Geektimes.

Cyborg competitions are a relatively new format of competitions in which people with prosthetic limbs take part. Competitors must complete various motor skills tasks and overcome an obstacle course, which varies depending on the rehabilitation means used. In Russia, the organization of such competitions was taken up by the company "Motorika", which develops upper limb prostheses. Last year, the company organized a similar event in the format of an open training session for Russian users of prosthetic hands, in which seven cyberattacks participated.

Now "Motorika" is holding "Cybathletics" competitions, in which several dozen people with prosthetic arms and legs, as well as people on electric wheelchairs, will participate. Participants will have to overcome a route consisting of everyday situations. "Cybathletics" will be held on June 15 at Expocentre Fairgrounds, the registration form for participants, visitors and volunteers is available on the event's website.

The most notable international competition is Cybathlon is an international "cyborg Olympiad", which was first held in Zurich in 2016. Cyber athletes competed in six disciplines: obstacle course for people with prosthetic arms, legs, in an exoskeleton, in a wheelchair, as well as a bicycle race with functional electrical stimulation of muscles and a computer race for paralyzed people using a neurointerface.
