Erythrocytes from stem cells will be tested in 2017.

In two years, artificial blood will be transfused to a person

It is reported that clinical trials will be conducted under the supervision of employees of the University of Bristol, as well as scientists from Oxford and Cambridge Universities. As part of the experiment, approximately 20 healthy volunteers will be injected with 5 to 10 ml of artificial blood.

NHS staff explained that the use of artificial blood can help patients suffering from diseases such as sickle cell anemia. "For a long time, scientists around the world have been looking for an alternative to donated blood. We are confident that by 2017 our team will be ready to conduct clinical trials," explained NHS employee Nick Watkins. According to him, artificial blood will not replace the use of donor blood, but with its help doctors will be able to treat some diseases more effectively.
