Shocking plastic surgery was performed in China
A girl with severe burns grew a new face right on her chest, reports Want China Times (Burnt Fujianese girl grows a new face for transplant – VM).
17-year-old Xu Jianmei from a fishing village in Fujian Province in southeastern China was disfigured by fire at the age of five. Her chin, eyelids and a significant part of her right ear were almost completely burned. For more than 10 years, the family could not pay for the necessary treatment. However, last year, doctors offered a Chinese woman an unusual alternative – to grow a new face on her chest.
Despite the fact that the preoperative shots look creepy (we do not publish the screenshots published in the note. Watch them, and even the video on "bigmir", if you are not too nervous – VM), doctors promise that the scars from the implant on the girl's face will soon heal, and she will gain a healthy appearance.
The operation took place in several stages. First, surgeons took tissue from the girl's hip and transplanted it just below the left shoulder. When the new skin grew, the doctors sewed it to Xu Jianmei's face.
This is not the first such plastic surgery on the face that has been performed in China recently. The victim of a car accident recently grew a new nose on his forehead.
