The CHI includes a new type of care for elderly patients
Since 2018, geriatric medical care for older patients has been included in the rates of compulsory medical insurance for the first time, the press service of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund (FOMS) reported.
The FOMS press service informed TASS that payment for this clinical and statistical group can be made in medical institutions that have the appropriate license for the profile "geriatrics".
Geriatric medical care is provided to patients taking into account the mutual influence of age-related diseases. It is also the prevention of senile diseases.
The documents on the provision of geriatric care approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in 2016 state that medical care according to the profile "geriatrics" is a system of measures aimed at preserving or restoring the ability of elderly patients to self-care, physical and functional activity, independence from outside help in everyday life.
At the same time, it is indicated that this type of medical care can be received by patients of a different age in the presence of senile asthenia.
In November, it was reported that the Ministry of Finance decided to reform the system of compulsory medical insurance (CHI), according to which citizens will be able to be served under the policy in any clinic, including private and foreign ones.
