Is Ebola retreating?

In Liberia, the last Ebola-infected patient was discharged from the hospital

Copper news

The last resident of Liberia with a diagnosis of Ebola has been discharged from the hospital. This is reported by Reuters.

Beatrice Yardolo, a resident of Bushrod Island, which is located near the capital of Monrovia, was cured of a deadly disease.

No new cases of Ebola infection have been reported in Liberia in the past 13 days. However, the country has not yet been declared free of the virus – for this, 42 days (two incubation periods) must pass from the moment of the last infection.

The authorities do not weaken control and urge the population to comply with all necessary rules. Currently, about 100 people who could have contracted the virus are under observation.

In recent weeks, there have been several violations of the rules of behavior in infected areas. In particular, in one of the cases, a woman was discharged from the hospital, although her recovery was not confirmed. In another case, an infected policewoman helped her son avoid being quarantined.

As of the beginning of March, the number of victims of Ebola was almost 9.8 thousand people. Almost 24 thousand people have contracted the virus, the World Health Organization reported. Almost all cases relate to three African countries – Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
