It's good to be a kitty, it's good to be a dog...

In the USA, a new trend is gaining popularity – residents of apartment buildings take DNA tests of their pets in order to identify their owners in case of detection of animal waste in the adjacent territory or in the stairwell.

The PooPrints program compares such waste with DNA samples collected from the oral cavity of animals for a possible match. If the culprit is found, his owner will receive a warning, and will also have to reimburse $ 60 spent on a DNA test.

If such a violation occurs a second time, the owner of a cat or dog who has not removed the waste of his pet will be forced to leave the rented apartment and look for another place of residence, CNN reports.

The manager of the Timberwood Commons residential complex in Lebanon, New Hampshire, claims that 98% of "dog owners" and "cat owners" pick up their pets' waste. However, there are those who do not.

The program is used in many US states. Countries such as Canada and Germany are showing interest in it.

The residents themselves mostly treat such an idea favorably.
