New Executive Director of the Skolkovo Biomedical Technology Cluster

Kirill Kayom has been appointed Executive Director of the Biomedical Technologies cluster of the Skolkovo Foundation

A seventh-generation doctor, in 1992 he received a diploma from the State Medical Academy named after him. Kirov in Nizhny Novgorod, and five years later graduated with honors from the Economics Department of the State University named after Lobachevsky, having successfully completed his studies in Russia and the USA under a joint MBA program with Taylor University.

He has more than 20 years of experience in senior positions, including 15 years as CEO in branches of international corporations. Specialization – startups in new regions and countries, launching new business lines in large holdings.

From 1992 to 1994, he was the owner of his own business for the distribution of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.

In 1995, under the leadership of Kirill Kaem, the regional network of the Swedish company Oriflame was built in the Volga region, which made it one of the largest taxpayers in the region.

Since 2000, he has worked in Germany, in the central office of Varta. After its merger with the American holding Spectrum Brands, for eight years he was responsible for the combined operations of the company in Russia. In 2008, he restarted the business of the German-American holding JAFRA International in Russia, improving marginality by 40%.

In 2009, he became the head of the Russian holding company Hygiene Kinetics, the largest manufacturer of household pulp and paper goods on the market. In two years, the company's sales growth, thanks to the introduction of new categories, has outpaced the market growth several times.

In 2011-2013, he headed the new direction of Alfa Group – the largest federal network of clinics Alfa – Health Center, where revenue doubled a year later, and the network itself grew by more than a third.

Since 2013, he has been a member of the Board of Directors and co-founder of the Medcluster International Medical Center, created on the initiative of Sberbank in partnership with Strategy Group Partners and with the potential participation of Johns Hopkins Medicine International.

As Executive Director of the biomedical technologies cluster of the Skolkovo Foundation, he will be responsible for the cluster development strategy, contacts with the regulator, attracting startups and finding new partners.
