Novosibirsk has developed an implant for heart surgery
The domestic implant is able to completely replace the imported analogue. At the same time, it will cost 4-5 times cheaper.
– Now the market is one hundred percent imported. There are manufacturers of implants in Russia only for open surgery. Before the crisis, an imported valve cost about 1 million rubles for one patient, now it may be more expensive. It is expected that the cost of our valve will be in the range of 200-250 thousand rubles," TASS quotes Andrey Kudryashov, director of the Novosibirsk Academic Park resident Company.
In our country, thousands of operations are performed annually to replace the aortic valve with an endovascular method for patients who are contraindicated in open-heart surgery. Mostly, these are elderly people. Therefore, the need for such implants is considered very high.
Scientists expect that the first operations to replace the heart valve with an implant will begin in mid-2016. In the meantime, the aortic valve is under development and has yet to undergo preclinical tests.
