Pensioner fights with enemies of the people

An 80-year–old pensioner named Ruan Tang from the city of Hangzhou in eastern China is a local celebrity. Her rather strange hobby brought her fame among local residents and the media. Residents of the city call Ruan Tang nothing else than a "specialist in killing flies."

"When I retired, I didn't know what to do. I wanted to continue to be useful to society. Then I noticed that in the summer people suffer from annoying flies. Their extermination has become my new vocation," Ruan Tan said.

And for the past 14 years, the old lady has been on the warpath against pests and devotes 8 hours a day to their destruction. An elderly woman is proud of the fact that she can exterminate up to a thousand annoying insects in a day. At the same time, the Chinese woman does not receive any money for her work.

They even wrote about my grandmother in the local newspaper, where Ruan said that flies are enemies of the people, spreading diseases. And she also added that they are difficult to kill and they multiply very quickly.

The newspaper concludes: "Grandma manages to kill flies in an environmentally friendly way and who knows how many flies would be around if Ruan didn't destroy them."

Local television has also become interested in the grandmother who benefits society. Here's what she said in her interview: "I feel that it is a great honor to help my fellow citizens. It's wonderful to have a useful activity at my age, which also helps me keep fit."
