Rating of the effectiveness of national health systems

Russian healthcare system –
in the last place in terms of efficiency in the Bloomberg rating

Daria Efimova, VademecumBloomberg news agency has published the second annual rating of the effectiveness of national health systems (Singapore Beats Hong Kong in Health Efficiency: Southeast Asia).

The rating includes countries with a population of 5 million people, a GDP per capita of $ 5,000 and an average life expectancy of 70 years. This year, 51 countries met these criteria.

The top three are the national systems of Singapore, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Italy. The United States ranks 44th, Russia is the last, 51st.

The average life expectancy in the country – leader of the rating, Singapore, is 82.1 years, the share of healthcare costs in the economy is 4.5%, and healthcare costs per capita is $2,426. "I would describe Singapore's healthcare system as the least imperfect of all world systems," Bloomberg quotes the head of the Asia-Pacific The Health & Life Science Departments of Oliver Wyman & Co by Jeremy Lin.

Russia, which closes the list, spends 6.3% of GDP or $887 per capita on healthcare. Life expectancy in the Russian Federation is 70.5 years.

Somewhat higher, in 42nd place, is Belarus, where health care costs account for 5% of GDP or $339 per capita. In addition to the above, Azerbaijan was among the CIS countries in the ranking – on the 50th line.
