RUSNANO and leading scientific institutions of the country signed cooperation agreements

On December 3, 2008, Cooperation Agreements were signed between the Russian Nanotechnology Corporation and the leading scientific institutions of the country – the Russian Academy of Sciences and Moscow State University. The documents were signed by Anatoly Chubais, CEO of RUSNANO, Yuri Osipov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Viktor Sadovnichy, Rector of Moscow State University.

The signing ceremony, attended by the Minister of Education and Science Andrei Fursenko, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Sergei Ivanov.

According to the signed Agreement, the Russian Academy of Sciences will assist RUSNANO in determining the key directions of the development of the nano-industry through scientific and technological forecasting in various high-tech industries. For this purpose, it is supposed to exchange scientific and technical information, as well as the creation and unification of information bases on scientific and technical developments and innovative projects in the field of nanotechnology, nanomaterials and nanosystems.

The parties will also cooperate in the selection and implementation of projects aimed at introducing nanotechnology and providing conditions for the development of competitive scientific and technological schools in Russia. To achieve these goals, RUSNANO and RAS will jointly train personnel for the nanoindustry and attract young specialists, postgraduates and doctoral students in the field of nanotechnology.

RUSNANO and MSU will cooperate in the development of innovative infrastructure of the nanoindustry, preparation and implementation of innovative projects in the field of nanotechnology at an early stage, as well as implement educational projects for retraining and advanced training of specialists in the field of nanoindustry. The parties also agreed to use the expert potential of MSU specialists for the examination of RUSNANO projects and to involve the university laboratories in the activities of the Corporation's certification center.

Currently, the parties are negotiating the creation of an Innovative Nanotechnology Center (Nanotechnology Center), on the basis of which experimental design work and pilot production will be carried out. This will eliminate the gap that exists today between the results of scientific activity in the field of nanotechnology and their application in practice.
