Russia on the sidelines

Alferov: For 25 years, Russia has fallen by the wayside
global technological development

IA "Rosbalt"Over 25 years of reforms, Russia has slipped to the sidelines of technological development in the world.

This was stated by Academician Zhores Alferov during a public speech at the Academic University.

According to the press service of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, according to the academician, not a single breakthrough technology has been created in Russia over the past 25 years.

"25 years of reforms have passed, and now we are on the sidelines of technological development in the world. There is not a single breakthrough technology created in Russia over the past 25 years," he said.

Alferov noted that the development of science and technology is much more important for the development of the country than the possession of natural resources.

"We have a pipe. There is oil and gas. It is very good that we have all these riches, but our fate is different. Only one option is reliable: the development of science and the creation of new scientific technologies," he said.

The scientist believes that the main problem of Russian science is the lack of demand by the economy and society for the results of scientific research.

"You can't give up. It's not just our future. This is the future of our country," he added.

According to Alferov, nanotechnology, the development of which scientists are engaged in today, is based on past discoveries.

"The Russian Academy of Sciences should become the highest scientific organization that is engaged in fundamental research, achieves real results used in the country's economy," he said.
