Stem cells go to IPO

JSC "Human Stem Cell Institute" (HSCC) plans to attract 120-150 million rubles during the initial public offering (IPO) at MICEX in the fall of 2009, the portal writes Quote.ru . Artur Isaev, Director General of the Institute, told reporters about this today in Moscow. According to him, the placement will take place in the sector of innovative and growing MICEX companies. A.Isaev noted that this is the first public offering of shares of a biotechnology company in the Russian Federation. CJSC "Allor invest" was chosen as the organizer of the IPO.

According to Maxim Dremin, Head of the Corporate Finance Department of Allor Invest, the company is currently being evaluated, which is scheduled to be completed in September 2009. According to preliminary data, the capitalization of the HSC will be about 500 million rubles. At the same time, M. Dremin noted that the main difficulty lies in the evaluation of the institute's patents. Based on the assessment, the volume of the placement will be determined, which will not exceed 25% of the shares of the HSCC.

M.Dremin also said that in the third decade of September, the meeting of shareholders of the ISC will decide on an additional issue of approximately 20 million shares, which are planned to be placed during the IPO. The application book will be fully formed by November 15, 2009. At the end of September, the HSCC plans to hold meetings with investors. The Institute expects to attract a financial investor, but does not exclude a strategic one.

According to A.Isaev, after the IPO, the institute plans to allocate about $ 1.6 million in 2010 for expansion into the CIS countries, primarily to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. In addition, according to A.Isaev, 500 thousand dollars in 2010-2011 is needed for expansion into the regions of the Russian Federation. Another $1.4 million. it will be invested in scientific research. Approximately 800 thousand dollars in 2010-2011 will be allocated for the expansion and additional equipment of the laboratory and the stem cell storage bank. In addition, the construction of a laboratory for the production of innovative drugs worth $ 4.5 million is planned for 2011-2012. "Thus, the volume of required investments by the end of 2012 is estimated at $ 8.8 million, of which about $ 4 million will be financed at the expense of the company's own revenues, the remaining 4.8 million we plan to attract through an IPO," A. summed up.Isaev.

JSC "Institute of Human Stem Cells" was established in 2003 to implement projects in the field of cellular technologies. The main owners of the HSCC are its CEO Artur Isaev (51% of the shares) and the investment fund First International Investment Group (44.1%). The revenue of the HSC in 2008 amounted to 95 million 719 thousand rubles, which was 48% higher than in 2007 (64 million 675 thousand rubles).
