A pair of British centenarians – 91-year-old Doreen Luckie and 103-year-old George Kirby – tied the knot after 27 years of relationship, becoming the oldest newlyweds in the world. This is reported by Business Insider (British couple become world's oldest newlyweds).

The ceremony took place on Saturday, June 13, in the city of Eastbourne on the south coast of England. Before it began, the bride confessed to journalists that she did not regret at all that their relationship had not been registered before: "We didn't think about marriage before, but we got married in the end."

During the wedding, Doreen was dressed in a white dress with blue flowers. The groom, who performed the ceremony in a wheelchair due to a recent injury, was wearing a suit and tie.

Previously, the holders of the title of the oldest newlyweds were a French couple. They lived together for 191 years. While Doreen and George have a total of 194 years behind them. The British have seven children, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The groom proposed to his beloved on Valentine's Day. As he admitted later in an interview, he did not get on one knee because he was afraid that he would not be able to get up from it.
