Visit of the RUSNANO delegation to Germany

On April 8, a delegation of the Russian Nanotechnology Corporation (RUSNANO), headed by CEO Anatoly Chubais, will arrive on a two-day visit to Germany.

Germany is one of the world's leading economies and a strategic business partner of Russia. The purpose of the trip will be to get acquainted with the experience of building German innovation development institutes and establish contacts with potential partners.

During the trip, Anatoly Chubais will hold a number of working meetings with representatives of German political circles, including Economy Minister Karl Guttenberg, Prime Minister of Saxony Stanislav Tillich and Deputy Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Michael Mertes.

In addition, Anatoly Chubais plans to take part in the conference "Nanotechnological innovations at the point of contact between government and business", which will be held on April 8 in Berlin. Within the framework of the conference, it is also planned to sign an agreement on the establishment of NanoBrahiTek CJSC between Santis LLC, International Brachytherapy S.A. (Germany) and RUSNANO. NanoBrahiTek CJSC will become the parent company of a joint venture for the production of micro sources, microspheres and components for brachytherapy procedures.

(Brachytherapy is contact radiation therapy in which small particles of a radioactive substance are injected into the affected organ. This ensures the effect of maximum doses of radiation directly on the tumor while minimizing the impact on healthy tissues. The brachytherapy method is widely used in the treatment of prostate cancer, tumors of the cervix and body of the uterus, vagina, esophagus, rectum, tongue, etc.)

The final stage of the visit will be the meetings of the Corporation's delegation with the management of German enterprises operating on the territory of the technopark for innovative MST companies.Factory (Dortmund).

MST.Factory is an incubator for young companies specializing in micro- and nanotechnology. It is located in the city of Dortmund on the site where the steel mill was previously located, later allocated by the city administration for the "high-tech complex" Phoenix West. It has about 2500 square meters of clean rooms and laboratories, more than 1000 square meters of office space.  Currently, about 20 companies are "housed" in the incubator. MST.Factory rents office and laboratory premises, clean rooms, offers a full range of expert advice and management services, helping to create working conditions that are most suitable for the development of product prototypes by resident companies and the creation of pilot productions, thus reducing the time needed to bring new products to the market. MST.Factory is the first implemented project within the framework of the "new Dortmund" strategy adopted by the city authorities, which assumes the development of micro– and nanotechnology in the city as priority industries after the fall of the "traditional" sectors (coal, steel, beer). The construction of the center cost about 20 million euros, part of which was provided by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund).
