Why do they need our biomaterials?

The biologist answered Putin's question

On Monday, at a meeting of the Human Rights Council, Vladimir Putin asked why the United States collects biological data of Russians – all ethnic groups from different parts of the country.

Recall that in the summer of this year, a tender for the purchase of synovial (articular – VM) appeared on the American public procurement website shell and ribonucleic acid (RNA) residents of Russia belonging to the Caucasian race. The purpose of collecting biomaterials was not specified in it.

Professor of the Faculty of Bioengineering and Bioinformatics of Moscow State University, Doctor of Biological Sciences Mikhail Gelfand explained to NSN why this might be necessary.

"Vladimir Putin has been deceived by someone. They collect data not from all ethnic groups of the country, but only Russians. Judging by the information that is available, we are talking about the genetic determinants of joint diseases. I don't know why they need Russians, perhaps because they want to separate the mutations that cause predisposition from a purely historical trace. This is always a problem," the scientist noted.

He denied the possibility of using this data to create a hypothetical "genetic weapon".

"About genetic weapons – this is some kind of disgusting lie. There are no such weapons. People are too similar to each other to be able to create a specific weapon against some race. It is probably possible to create – very expensive and very difficult – to create a weapon against some very small ethnic group that has not mixed with anyone for the last thousand years. Russians are not such an ethnic group. It is probably possible, after spending crazy money, to figure out how to exterminate the inhabitants of the conditional Andaman Islands. But there are simpler ways to do this," the NSN interlocutor noted.

He suggested that rumors about genetic weapons are used by certain circles in the fight for funding.
