Fulbright Scholarships for Russian Researchers

In order to expand cooperation between universities and scientific organizations of Russia and the USA in the field of exact and natural sciences and in accordance with the decisions of the subgroup on education of the Russian-American bilateral Presidential Commission, the Fulbright program has the honor to announce a new program "Scholarships for Russian researchers in the field of exact and natural sciences".

We invite young Russian scientists engaged in conducting research in the exact and natural sciences (including biology, physics, chemistry, technical specialties, Earth sciences, optics, mechanics, etc.) to participate in a competition for a trip to one of the leading universities in the United States in order to conduct joint research during the 2012-13 academic year. The duration of the trip is 10 months. The advantage is given to candidates who already cooperate with universities in the USA and who will be able to confirm that their research experience and research interests correspond to the interests of their American colleagues.

Requirements for the participants of the competition:

• Russian citizenship
• Degree of Candidate of Sciences
• Place of work - Russian university or research institute
• English language proficiency is sufficient to conduct research in the USA
• Age - up to 35 years
• Approval of participation in the program from the place of work

Each applicant must submit a full application for the competition, including a description of the objectives of participation in the program, with a detailed description of the field of scientific interests, a description of research experience (past and present) and a description of the claimed research project. Three letters of recommendation will be required, as well as a letter of invitation or confirmation of the existence of joint research interests from a US university.

Each candidate will have to submit an official letter of financial support from their place of work (from a university or research institute) together with their application for participation in the competition.

The deadline for submitting applications is December 05, 2011.
