Photo contest "Innovations for the benefit of man"

Bayer Company together with The Moscow Times newspaper invites you to take part in the photo contest "Innovations for the benefit of man". Innovative solutions have greatly improved the quality of our lives. We feel this influence every day when using new technology, methods of movement, information exchange, as well as in the areas of healthcare and personal development.

We ask you to capture and capture those innovations that benefit a person. We would also like to draw your attention to global problems that can significantly change our lives.

We will appreciate the most original and artistic photos! We are waiting for your works, both within the framework of the main competition "Innovations for the benefit of man", and dedicated to the topics of special nominations:

  • Increase in life expectancy
    Modern scientific research and development is aimed at improving our health, for example, by diagnosing, preventing and treating diseases. The life expectancy of a Stone Age man was 30-35 years. Today, the maximum life expectancy is more than 120 years. Of course, it is the innovative solutions created over the past 100 or 200 years that have been able to bring such results.
  • Providing food for the growing population of the Earth
    The world's population continues to grow, and by 2050 the number will increase to 9 billion. a person, while the area of agricultural land is sharply reduced. Modern research and development is aimed at improving the quality indicators of agricultural plants, new methods are used to protect plants and increase yields.
  • Environmental protection
    The high level of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere, climate change are acute problems of our time. Finding effective solutions to reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions through innovative solutions aimed at the future is today's main goal.

To participate, the work should be posted on the project website and fill out a special form. Photos must meet the following technical requirements:

• File format: jpeg, png, gif
• Image resolution: 300 DPI
• File size: no more than 3 MB

Participants can submit no more than five works in one nomination. The use of photo editors is allowed.

The selection of the winner will take place in two stages:

  1. Until January 31, 2010, visitors to the project's website can vote for the work they like. According to the results of the voting, 45 best works will be selected and submitted to the jury.
  2. In February, at the opening of the exhibition of works, a jury consisting of representatives of The Moscow Times newspaper, Bayer, National Geographic, Popular Mechanics, Photo&Video, Digital Photo magazines, as well as The Moscow Times photographer Igor Tabakov will select the winner of the main competition, as well as the winners in three special nominations.

The winners will receive valuable prizes, as well as an exhibition of works.
