RFBR and NIH grants to study HIV infection

The Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and the National Institutes of Health of the USA (National Institutes of Health, NIH) announce a competition for joint Russian-American initiative research projects in 2012 to receive financial support for conducting basic scientific research in the field of HIV prevention on the following topics:

  • Anti-HIV Vaccines
  • Anti-HIV microbicides (Microbicides)
  • Sociobiological studies of HIV infections (Behavioral and Social Science Research)
  • Molecular Biology and Immunology of HIV (Basic Science: Molecular Biology and Immunology)
  • Genomics


In accordance with the Memorandum between the RFBR and the NIH, support can be provided to research jointly carried out by Russian and American scientists aimed at obtaining new scientific knowledge and of interest to the Russian and American sides.

Projects are supported by the RFBR on a competitive basis, regardless of the age, academic rank, academic degree or position held by the applicant, as well as the departmental affiliation of the scientific organization with which he is in an employment relationship.

Applications are accepted until 15.01.2012.
