Winter School of the University of Helsinki – 2015

Grants 2015 for participation in the Winter School of the University of Helsinki (Finland)

The Finnish Center for International Mobility CIMO accepts applications from young specialists from Russia and Ukraine studying at the postgraduate level to participate in the 19th Winter School, which will be held on March 2-7, 2015 at the zoo station in Tvarminna (University of Helsinki).

The purpose of the Winter School is to develop professional exchange programs for young specialists, masters and postgraduates from Finland and the participating countries of the event to form cooperation relations between universities of these countries.

Before submitting applications for participation in the School, potential participants are encouraged to establish contact with one or more research groups at Finnish universities and discuss the possibility of joint research projects with them. Expressions of interest from representatives of research groups of Finnish universities will be taken into account when selecting candidates for participation in the work of the School.

The Finnish Center for International Mobility finances the accommodation of school participants, meals and most of the transportation costs.

Those participants of the Winter School who will be invited to Finland to work on joint projects with Finnish colleagues will be paid a scholarship under the CIMO Fellowship program. The amount of the scholarship in 2015 will be 1,500 euros per month; the duration of work on a project or study in Finland for program fellows invited by Finnish colleagues after graduation from Winter School is from 3 to 18 months. The scholarship program should start up to two years after the end of Winter School.

The 19th Winter School is interdisciplinary, the School's topics are focused on biochemistry, structural biology, evolution, and brain research.

Specialists working in related fields are invited to participate in the School: chemistry, biology, bioengineering, biophysics, nanotechnology, molecular and cellular biology, physiology, neuroscience, psychology, medicine, etc.

Participants of the Winter School can be young professionals, no older than 35 years old, studying at the postgraduate level, citizens of Russia or Ukraine. Repeated participation in the work of the School is not allowed.

The deadline for accepting applications is October 20, 2014. The complete set of documents of the applicant must be received by CIMO by this date.
