Life expectancy: lies, blatant lies…

Why do governments lie about Life expectancy

Clem Chambers, Why Governments Are Lying About Life ExpectancyTranslation: Inopressa
Experienced experts, just like the classics of Russian literature, look at any event very darkly, says Forbes columnist Clem Chambers.

"However, even I, an expert, found solace in one elementary fact about the current situation in the world – the average person's life expectancy is increasing. Is the world so bad if people live longer," the author writes.

But, being a "professional Cassandra," in his own words, Chambers took a closer look at the data. It is claimed that the average person's life expectancy increases by three months annually.

The author is puzzled: why is the oldest inhabitant of the Earth only 115 years old? And why is the maximum life expectancy not growing? Moreover: "There are 15% fewer older people in the UK than predicted. 30 thousand people have disappeared somewhere." In the USA, the number of old people who should have lived more than 100 years is as much as 50 thousand less than expected. "Maybe the old people are abducted by aliens?" the author asks.

According to Chambers, everything is simpler: "The increase in life expectancy is a lie. The shortage of old people is proof of that."

In reality, it is not life expectancy that is increasing, but the retirement age, the author explains: "Why? States are failing. The justification for postponing the retirement milestone is, of course, the increase in life expectancy."

In the author's opinion, this lie is also beneficial to financiers: "Since people are living longer, pension contributions should, of course, be increased."

And companies suffer (due to the astronomical growth of pension obligations) and pensioners themselves, who will have to stretch their savings for a longer period.

Chambers concludes: it seems that the idea of Gogol Chichikov (to profit from the fake existence of the dead) is still relevant today.
