These are the doctors we have…

Every fifth doctor in Russia does not recommend patients to be vaccinated against coronavirus

Nikita Kamitdinov, Forbes, 07/16/2021

The mass vaccination campaign is supported by 62.9% of doctors, 17.5% of specialists have not yet decided whether they will recommend vaccinating patients, 19.6% said they do not recommend vaccinating patients. Such results were shown by a study of the Aktion Medicine service (part of the Aktion group) – it was conducted among 2,400 employees of the medical industry, middle staff (including nurses and paramedics) and doctors.

The majority of doctors (74.5%) among those who do not recommend their patients to be vaccinated against COVID-19 explain this by distrust of Russian vaccines. The following reasons for distrust were often mentioned in the answers of doctors: vaccines were tested too little, delayed side effects are still unknown to the scientific community, there are no foreign vaccines in the country, as well as an overly active campaign for vaccination.

Every fourth doctor among those who do not recommend vaccination is not specifically against the coronavirus vaccine, but against vaccinations in general.

The majority of specialists among those who recommend vaccination to patients trust Sputnik V (64%), fewer doctors recommend KoviVak (25%), and even less – the EpicVacCorona vaccine (11%).

More than 55% of doctors agree that mandatory vaccination is necessary in a number of regions, as citizens need to develop collective immunity as soon as possible. However, about 40% are against it, as they believe that mandatory vaccination is accompanied by violations of human rights and freedoms.

Mandatory vaccination for some categories of citizens has already been introduced in more than 30 regions of Russia, RBC calculated. Most often, the requirement applies to companies operating in certain areas, including catering, transport and trade.
