$250 million to fight the pandemic

The Bill Gates Foundation will allocate another quarter of a billion dollars to fight COVID-19

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation intends to allocate an additional $250 million to combat the spread of COVID-19, Reuters reports. This is the largest contribution of a charitable organization in connection with the pandemic.

The money is planned to be spent on the development of inexpensive medicines and vaccines that are easy to transport. Currently available vaccines require special storage conditions, which are difficult to observe.

The Gates Foundation made the previous and largest contribution to the fight against new infections in November. It was $70 million. The organization's total spending on combating the pandemic has already reached $1.75 billion.

"We have new drugs and more potential vaccines than we could have expected at the beginning of the year. But these innovations will save lives only if they appear in the world," Bill Gates said.

At the end of November, the billionaire said (not for the first time, and not even for the tenth time – VM) that in the next 20 years, humanity may face a new pandemic. However, according to him, people will be more ready for it than for a coronavirus infection.

Despite the generous donations, back in the middle of the summer of 2020, supporters of conspiracy theories suspected Gates of intending to chip people under the pretext of vaccination against COVID-19 and thus control the population of the planet. "It's very difficult to deny, because it's so stupid or strange," the philanthropist himself commented on the rumors.
