SibSMU has become the world's best clinical research center for type 2 diabetes mellitus
At the international meeting of researchers "Global StudySymposium", which took place in Rome on Monday, January 25, SibSMU was awarded a gold certificate.
The experience of SibSMU in the field of clinical research was presented at the meeting, issues of further cooperation in this direction were discussed.
The research on type 2 diabetes is carried out by a team of researchers – endocrinologists of SibSMU consisting of Oksana Oleynik, Maria Rotkank and Marina Koshmeleva under the guidance of Professor Yulia Samoilova. Other countries such as the UK, India, and Malaysia are also taking part in the study.
"Today SibSMU is one of the leading centers of clinical research in Russia, where more than 150 international clinical trials have already been conducted under the leadership of leading professors and associate professors of the university. The research is carried out on the basis of our own multidisciplinary clinics and clinical departments equipped with modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. All this allows us to conduct research in accordance with international quality standards," explained Professor Yulia Samoilova, head of the Clinical Research Center at SibSMU.
Clinical research has been conducted at SibSMU since 2002 and currently the university is accredited to conduct all phases (I-IV) of clinical research, clinical trials of medical devices. SibSMU partners in clinical research are leading Russian and foreign pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations (Worldwide Clinical Trials, CJSC GlaxoSmithKline Trading, Pfizer, Jansen Pharmaceuticals, Merck Sharp and Dome Idea Inc. (MSD), Novo Nordisk LLC, Sanofi, Generium, Pharmstandard, Ufa Vita LLC, etc.). More than 25 chief researchers work on the basis of SibSMU, whose average medical experience exceeds 20 years, all chief researchers and 85% of co-researchers have a GCP certificate. In 2015, SibSMU became the first university in Russia accredited by the Skolkovo Technology Park to conduct clinical trials and the only university, except Moscow and St. Petersburg, where clinical testing of new methods of treating diseases is carried out.
