Together against breast cancer

The third march "Together against Breast Cancer" will be held in Moscow at the end of May
AMI-TASSFor the third time together for the sake of life, participants of the march "Together against Breast Cancer" will walk through the streets of the capital of Russia.

This year its final chord will be a big charity concert "Rock against Cancer", the organizers of the action said.

Everyone can take part in the march "Together against breast Cancer". The action under the motto "Together for life" starts at noon on May 30 at Vasilyevsky Descent and finishes in "Luzhniki", where the concert "Rock against Cancer" will take place. The program will be supported by well-known Russian rock performers – the groups "Chaif", "Moral Code", "UMA2RMAN", "PELAGEYA" and others. "Participation in charity is the norm for a decent person," says the lead singer of the Chaif group, Vladimir Shakhrin. – The Chaif group are decent people and, undoubtedly, men. We are ready to join the fight against breast cancer for the sake of our women. If you are with us, then be at the Luzhniki Stadium on May 30.

Breast cancer is an insidious disease. In the initial stages, it does not manifest itself in any way, and in the latter it is already difficult to treat. Every year, this diagnosis is made by approximately 50,000 Russian women, and only half of them return to a full life. The main goal of the charity events is to encourage women to undergo regular examinations and raise funds for modern diagnostic equipment, thanks to which doctors will be able to detect breast cancer at an early, curable stage.

Charity marches within the framework of the Avon program "Together against Breast Cancer" have been held in 50 countries around the world for more than 10 years. In Russia, marches were held twice – in 2007 and 2008. About 2,500 people from all over Russia took part in them and more than 8 million rubles were collected. These funds have already been allocated for the purchase of modern diagnostic equipment for medical centers for the purpose of free examination of women in the Yaroslavl, Penza, Novgorod regions, Naro-Fominsk district of the Moscow region and Tatarstan. In 2009, modern mobile diagnostic complexes will be purchased for oncological dispensaries in the cities of Tomsk and Irkutsk, designed to serve the population in remote and hard-to-reach settlements.

The third charity march "Together against Breast Cancer" and the concert "Rock against Cancer" will raise funds for the purchase of new equipment, as well as for the organization of trainings for oncologists from the regions.

The charity program "Together against Breast Cancer" was founded in 1992, and has been operating in Russia since 2002. To date, about 50 countries of the world participate in it. All programs in different countries are united by a common goal – to help every woman in the fight against breast cancer. Within its framework, events are regularly held that encourage women to monitor breast health and allow them to obtain reliable information about the health of the mammary glands – from educational campaigns and free mass examinations in the regions to targeted assistance to women who have undergone breast surgery.
