Gene therapy vaccine against immunodeficiency virus: encouraging results
In fact, monkeys were infected with immunity to HIV, providing protection from acquired immunodeficiency syndrome with the help of an adenovirus encoding antibodies to the monkey immunodeficiency virus – the monkey analogue and, possibly, the "progenitor" of HIV. If the method proves effective for the human immunodeficiency virus, mass vaccination can eradicate the pathogen.
